Top 4 Factors to Consider When Choosing the Right Dog Breed

It is often said that a dog is a man’s best friend. Science has also proved that this relationship is beneficial for humans. Owning a dog will make your life a thousand times better because they love you unconditionally, and in return, all they want is your attention and time. Your dog will always be there for you; it will do anything for you, even it will help you in case of emergency. There are many examples of dogs that saved their owners’ life. You can always expect loyalty from your dog; it will never betray and deny you at any cost. It will become an essential part of your life that you can never live without.

If you are thinking of getting a dog, you must know which breed is suitable for you. When choosing a dog breed, there is a vast bundle of choices for you. Labrador retrievers would be the best choice as they are always active; if you are thinking of owning a guard dog, the German shepherd would be your best choice. If you are looking for an excellent indoor dog, Chihuahua is your best choice. But owning a dog also requires altering your lifestyle accordingly. Like, Dog House is an absolute requirement of your dog. You must get a Dog House that is suitable for your dog. It would help if you consideredit according to your dog’s size, height, and shape.

Owning a dog is a decision you will never regret. Following are the factors you must consider when choosing a dog breed.

1.Temperament

Before choosing a dog, you must know why exactly you need a dog. If you want a family pet, you should go for an easygoing, loving, and kind dog breed. But if you are thinking of getting an animal that can protect your house and family, you should go for an aggressive dog breed. Also, if you want to make new friends by showing off your dog, you need a friendly breed that strangers can easily pet. But this is not entirely true; many dogs get aggressive by the way people treat them. Maybe your love and care will make a difference in your dog’s nature.

2. Cost

Before owning a dog, you must know that your bank balance is enough for raising a dog. It is about more than just the food expense. It is not as easy as it looks. All dogs require constant care, food, treats, bedding, grooming supplies, traveling crates, and, most importantly, vaccination. Certain dog breeds require extensive medical care; you will need a good veterinarian for them. Dog toys are an essential part of your dog’s mental growth and exercise. These toys also cost a lot, and if you own a destructive dog, you need to get new toys for your dog every next day.

Another important thing that’s your dog going to need is a bed. Every dog deserves a good cozy bed, and that will surely cost you much. The larger breeds will have even more expenses of food. So choose a suitable dog breed considering all these little things.

3. Size

Animal size is also an important thing to consider before owning it. It is understood that the larger breeds require more space inside as well as outside the house. If you live in an apartment of one room, a large dog would not be appropriate for you. If you need your workout companion, a dog that can go for long jogging with you, you do not need a smaller dog breed because they can never fulfill your needs. Also, it will be easier for you to train the big dog than the smaller one. Larger dogs will cost more than smaller ones as larger dogs mostly need more food and medical care. So choose a dog that can completely fulfill your requirements.

4. Family needs

It would help if you considered your family’s needs before getting a dog. If you have a baby in your family, a small dog is not preferable, as babies can harm smaller dogs considering them as toys. Also, some dog breeds are always calm and quiet and take long naps, like bulldogs, and they will never get along with your family if they want an enthusiast dog. Dogs are also allergic as they shed, so before getting a particular breed of dog, you must know if any of your family members is an allergy sufferer because it will be alarming for your whole family. So, first, make sure that everyone in your family enjoys the love and companionship of the dog.
